Maybe you saw me in the magazine isle?

If you happened to have been perusing some wedding magazines this year, you might have seen a few of my clients' weddings featured inside. Here's a look at the weddings that made it to print.

Kate & Kase, married at the Woolverton Inn are featured in The Knot Magazine and can also be seen on the knot.com.

Danielle & Matt were featured in Brides NJ recently. Their wedding took place at Crossed Keys Inn in Andover, NJ

And Joann & Alan's intimate backyard wedding was featured in The Knot.

 

The New Babies Have Arrived...and more on their way

Tis the season for making babies...I've had 2 of my bridal couples give birth since New Years...and 7 more couples with little one's on the way. I'm thinking the recession is good for family planning...too expensive to go out at night, so why not stay home and make your own entertainment...wink wink.

One of the things I love most about my work is making photographs that tell the story of the lives of the people I am connected with. The pictures of the first moments in a new family's life is the  best gift I have to give. I still look at those first images of Jack coming into my world (16 years ago!)...and remember so vividly, all the emotion I was experiencing then.

I want to welcome into the world a little boy named Gregory...and congratulate Sadie & Philip, his proud parents. He arrived into the world on January 3rd, 2009 @ 2:56 am. Here he is @ just 2 days old.

AND the there's the 2 new guys living down the street...Alexander & Michael were born to Sarah & Rob on January 15th, 2009 @ 12:56 am. Sarah spent many many long days in bed... keeping these little guys growing till they were finally ready to meet the world. The boys had to stay in the NICU until they were big and strong...and now their finally at home, keeping Rob and Sarah up most nights and one their toes all day.

Blessings to all the new parents and babies...I look forward to watching your lives blossom and grow.

just a normal friday night with jack

Life is never boring when Jack's in the house. He and I had a little photo play time on Friday night... and then I let him loose on Lightroom to tweak the photos a little. Here's a look at my wack-a-doodle 16 year old son.

 

my mother is probably having a good laugh in the spirit world over the condition of this room. The worlds "clean up this room" & "how can you live like this" probably can be heard jut about everyday here at our house. oh well...it's just a faze right???

Pauline & Charlie @ The Harold Pratt House

A gorgeous winter day in the city what Pauline & Charlie had the good fortune to order up for their wedding last month. I met up with Pauline @ the Carlyle Hotel to shoot the girls getting ready, while my good friend, Brooke Ismach went off to shoot Charlie and his entourage. Timing is always a little tricky with weddings... and since the guys had a little extra wait time, they & Brooke enjoyed some good eats at a Artie's Delicatessen. We all met up at The Harold Pratt House for a lovely ceremony & reception. It wasn't a big affair...just close family and friends to make the evening full of joy for this sweet couple who love each other exactly for who they are.

One of my goals at each wedding is to create images that invite the viewer into a new perspective on seeing the wedding day. I want my images to surprise you and touch your heart. I may try to wedge myself into a tight little space just to get a great cake shot...or looking from above the ring exchange. I have to be a nimble dancer and stealth acrobat about it...and here's what I have to show for taking the risk and trying somethings differently. Thanks Pauline & Charlie... for inviting me to be a part of your day and allowing me the freedom to have so much fun with you both!

And I simply can't say enough about how lucky it is to have a second shooter grabbing unexpected wedding day moments. Thanks Brooke...I love this family shot and I can't wait to go eat at Artie's.

Cat & Rob's @ Chelsea Lighthouse

I am absolutely thrilled to share some my favorite photos from my first wedding in 2009. Catherine & Rob were married in NYC on January 2...a perfect culmination to the holiday festivities. What better way to spend New Years than celebrating with friends, family and just a few flurries in the sky. Catherine & Rob met at the alter at the Church of Saint Monica's to exchange vows. Catherine's gorgeous cathedral length veil was her mother's and worn to honor her memory. I was very moved by the choice of her bridesmaids to wear pink ribbons on their wrists to honor the fight against breast cancer.

Lucky me got to ride along with the bride and groom in the vintage car (not heated but still cozy and romantic!)...while Laura headed to Chelsea Piers with the bridal party. Cat, Rob and I stopped off to grab a few quick classic NY portraits at Grand Central Terminal...and then on to Pier Sixty Lighthouse to join their party. What a great surprise to see the winter theme carried out with old school skis for guests to sign, tables named for their favorite ski resorts and the coolest seating cards...lift tickets...that guests all seemed to be wearing.

The waiting....is almost over...

I know that Catherine & Rob are patiently waiting to see their wedding photos...they were just married 3 weeks ago over the New Year's Holiday weekend. So just to tease you guys...here's a quick little peak at a couple of my favorite images....all about the NYC mood... and you're going to have to wait another day or so to see these gorgeous faces.

Pauline & Charlie...keeping each other warm in the city

Goodbye 2008..Hello 2009. I've been away from the blog for a couple of weeks...shooting but not much at my desk. Everyone needs a break right! and what better time but "The Holidays" to pretend that I'm out of the office (cause my office is at home ya know). I'm back...it's a new year...and I've got lots of work to catch up on.

First in line is this fun engagement session I had just before X-mas with Pauline & Charlie. Their wedding date is fast approaching ...and this couple is really very engaging...especially when it comes to all things New York related. Charlie knows just about everything there is to know about NY because he used to be one of those tour guide guys takes tourists around town. He regaled us with all sorts of stories about Times Square, Manhattan & Brooklyn as we explored some their favorites city sites. I got the story on how they met through work, how Pauline broke her rule of not dating anyone she works with, how Charlie (a very romantic guy) planned for quite some time to ask Pauline to marry her. All in all...I had a great day shooting and getting to know them a little more.  Pauline & Charlie...see you on Jan 24th!!!!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Cans For Comments postings. I had many visitors to the blog and the Facebook posting (not every one left comments). I am delighted to say that a donation of 96 cans and boxes will be made at the beginning of the year to Toni's Kitchen in Montclair.

I'm off to visit my sister's home for a Christmas Eve gathering...and wanted to be sure to express my gratitude to all who come visiting this blog. It's not always the easiest time of year for everyone. For me, the toughest thing to deal with is the constant cold...I don't like it and that's just how it is. I'm sending you all my best wishes...that you are save this holiday season and surrounded by love. There's freezing rain out on the streets in my neighborhood...so I'm going to be driving extra careful today.

Here's a pray for all who are in need of one....and a couple of photos to remind us all, just how beautiful the world can be.

Yes We Can...Cans for Comments....Last Day

Tomorrow morning I'll be taking a finally tally of all the comments added to this blog and my facebook group. So please please remember the rules of the game...For every Comment You Leave...I will donate a can (or box) of food to my local food bank. So many people are in need of the very basics and here's a way for us to help out.

Cans For Comments - join in for the week

Hey Everyone...I just was bouncing around on some friends blogs and heard about a great idea to help those in need. Its called Cans for Comments...and I'm not sure who started but here's how it works:

For one week starting right now, Friday the 12th, I will donate 1 can of food (or box) to a food bank for every comment made until the week is up. You can comment here or browse the archives and comments on older posts.

I love receiving comments here on my blog or on Facebook. I know that lots of folks come visiting my blog, but I don't often know who's been here unless you leave a comment. And frankly, most folks don't. That's ok...but here's the thing...I LOVE hearing from you!

So leave a comment here on the blog, tell your friends, and pay it forward! 

There are lots of other photographer's participating and I came upon the idea from Anne Ruthmann up in Mass. Her blog is one I always look forward to reading. Check out all these other folks, leave them a comment and they'll also add a can in your honor.
